The Yosemite Basecamp is a socially and environmentally sustainable outfitter that prioritizes brands with a passion for environmental protection, inclusivity and accessibility like Patagonia, Teva, and Fish Pond.

We also recognize the Nature Gap and work everyday to expand access to the outdoors. First, we have chosen to redefine the traditional outfitter experience with a more inclusive outdoor community that includes hiring individuals from traditionally marginalized demographics. 🚲 Due to inclement weather, the YVL bike stand will remain closed today. Today was the final day for the bikes season, so all bike stands will remain closed until Spring 2026. No worries, you can still rent bikes through @echocooperative

As many of you know, the federal government shutdown has reduced staffing and closed many basic services in Yosemite National Park. Restrooms, visitor centers, and ranger programs may not be available, and trash collection and emergency response could be very limited.

But Yosemite remains open — and so do we. 💚

At Yosemite Basecamp, we’re stepping up to help visitors make the most of their trips during this time and support the park to the best of our ability:

✅ Free visitor information at our site in at the information desk open everyday 8am-6pm in downtown Groveland
✅ Guidance on safe routes and current trail closures
✅ Clean restrooms and supplies before you head into the park
✅ Gear rentals and last-minute essentials
✅ Expanded access to guided tours during the shutdown.
✅ A friendly local team ready to answer your questions

What you can do to help:
🍃Pack out ALL trash — don’t rely on park dumpsters, but you can stop here to unload before you travel home.
🍃Bring extra food, water, and toilet paper.
🍃Learn how to use the “facilitrees” (use the bathroom outside without endangering sceanary, wildlife and other visitors.
🍃Be self-reliant and avoid risky hikes — rescue services may be limited or strained.
🍃Respect trail and area closures.
🍃Follow Leave No Trace Principles

🚨Access to the Mist Trail will be limited between June 30th - October 30th 🚨

The Lower Mist Trail - from the John Muir Trail junction (just uphill from the Vernal Fall Footbridge) to the top of Vernal Fall - will be closed from 7:00am and 3:30pm. during the week days this summer.

The trail will remain open Fridays, weekends and holidays. It is expected to be open overnight unless the gates are closed and a notice is posted.

Hikers and backpackers headed to Half Dome and points beyond from the trailhead at Happy Isles may hike uphill on the Mist Trail if they reach the Mist Trail/John Muir Trail junction by 7:00am, Monday through Thursday. Otherwise, they must hike the John Muir Trail.

Stop by the Yosemite Basecamp in downtown Groveland on your way into the park for the most up-to-date information!

About Yosemite Basecamp
Yosemite Basecamp is a mission-driven lodging and gear hub designed for adventurers exploring Yosemite. We take pride in providing a clean, welcoming, and seamless guest experience, and we’re looking for a dedicated, detail-oriented Housekeeper Manager to help maintain our high standards and manage property.

What You'll Do
✔️ Open the store each morning and audit daily and weekly housekeeping and facilities needs.
✔️ Follow up with guests on property about any overnight needs and assist them to ensure they have a comfortable stay.
✔️Clean & prepare guest spaces to ensure rooms and common areas are spotless and ready for incoming guests.
✔️ Laundry & restock linens, towels, and guest essentials.
✔️ Assist with facilities and groundskeeping by watering flowers, manageing fire pit, collecting garbarge and sorting recycling.
✔️ Identify and report maintenance issues like repairs or safety concerns to management.
✔️ Recommend improvements and share ideas to enhance efficiency, cleanliness, and overall guest satisfaction.

🚨IMPORTANT UPDATE ON YOSEMITE RESERVATION

A reservation will be required to drive into or through Yosemite National Park on some days from May 24 through September 1, 2025, for those driving into the park between 6 am and 2 pm as follows:

May 24 through May 26 (Memorial Day weekend): A reservation is required from 6 am to 2 pm on Saturday through Monday.

May 27 through June 14: A reservation is not required at any time.

June 15 through August 15: A reservation is required from 6 am to 2 pm every day.

August 16 through August 29: A reservation is not required at any time.

August 30 through September 1 (Labor Day weekend): A reservation is required from 6 am to 2 pm on Saturday through Monday.

Driving through the park will also require a reservation if entering between 6 am and 2 pm. If you are planning to visit after peak hours, please do not arrive before 2 pm; vehicles blocking roads will be cited.

Reservations will be available through Recreation.gov beginning May 6, 2025 at 8:00 am (PDT). Additional reservations will also be released seven days prior to each arrival date.

Spring in Yosemite means waterfalls, sleepy eyed wildlife, and trails slowly emerging from the snow. 🌱 Visiting from April–Mid June is a game of timing here in Yosemite, so here's what is open if you are visiting soon:

🚗Yosemite Valley: Open year-round. Waterfalls are at full force—Bridalveil, Yosemite Falls, and Vernal/Nevada are stunners right now!
🚗Glacier Point Road: Currently closed, but often opens in May. Check for updates before your trip
🚗Tioga Road & Tuolumne Meadows: Currently closed and typically open in late May or June, depending on snowpack.
🚗 Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias: This grove is located near the South Entrance and is usually snow-free by April or May. There is a shuttle to the grove beginning sometime in late April. The shuttle isn't running yet, so make sure and check before your visit.

We will conclude our tour of the Yosemite Basecamp with our newest addition, the CAMPGROUND and TENT CABINS!

Our canvas tents cabins are perfect for any outdoor enthusiasts that wants adventure with a few amenities! They include wifi, limited electricity, portable lantern, four camp chairs, four cots, four sleeping bags, and four camp pillows. Each site will also have a private picnic table, bear box and grill.

For guests that have their own equipment, we have empty campsites that can accommodate 2, 3 person tents or 1, 6 person tent and include a parking space, grill, a picnic table and free wifi.

Our private campground is tucked back on the Basecamp property, high above Main Street, within walking distance to bars, restaurants, shops and groceries. Guests will also find a communal area with a fire pit, dish washing station and toilets. Please note there are no showers or laundry services available to campground guests.
